The GHLDP(Global Health leadership Development Program,GHLDP) was started in 2015 to allow optometry/ophthalmology students from China to learn about the state of optometry around the world, as well as American culture and its influence on the American healthcare system. This program was designed by Wenzhou Medical University, the New England College of Optometry(NECO) and the school of Optometry, State University of New York(SUNY College of Optometry). Participants are chosen for their demonstrated leadership skills and interest in US health and vision care issues. During the GHLDP, students attend programming at NECO and the SUNY College of Optometry for four weeks of lectures, visits, and optometric education.
Asia-Pacific Ophthalmology & Optometry Scholar Program Catholic University of Daegu, one of the five universities in Korea which have academic credential for Bachelor degree program in Optometry, was established in 1914. The Asia-Pacific Ophthalmology & Optometry Scholar Program was started in 2015 and have sent 2 groups of outstanding students to Catholic University of Daegu in the past 2 years to receive a four weeks’ training including visual training/visual therapy, contact lens making/spectacle frame design, clinical training, research, Korean language course, and so on.
Externship Program in the International School of Optics, France The International School of Optics (ISO) is the biggest college of optometry in France. This program started in 2013 and about 3-5 students were enrolled in this program to do a 3 months training in ISO in France.
