Talent Recruitment

Principal Investigator

Representative achievements:
During his study pursing Ph.D in University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences under the supervision of Prof. Steven W. Barger, he studied the roles of serine racemase in Alzheimer’s disease (AD) which has opened an avenue in this field. After establishing a research team in Wenzhou Medical University, he had led the team to conduct several meaningful work. They first linked RGC loss in diabetic retinopathy with overexpression of serine racemase, and further found that inhibition or deletion of serine racemase and overexpression of D-amino acid oxidase can not only protect RGC loss, but also inhibit retinal microvascular abnormalities in several animal models of diabetes. In AD, they found that macroautophagy degrades STIM1/STIM2, leading to inhibition of SOCE, which may underlie the synapse loss in sporadic AD. Recently, they found that Dicer1 is reduced in the cerebral cortex and in the hippocampus of animal model of AD which is never reported.
